JOBS
Secretary General
• You coordinate and manage the daily work of ECYC. You are responsible for the secretariat (assisted by a part time secretary). You’re responsible for the implementation of ECYC’s strategic plan and work plan.
• You organise the meetings (preparation, invitations, enrolment, agendas, minutes) and you’re responsible for the statutory duties (e.g. Bureau, General Assembly, etc.). You work together with the Bureau, you facilitate and support their work (e.g. writing documents, work plan…).
• You facilitate the permanent network and cooperation between all ECYC member organisation. Therefore you are in regular contact with their representatives and volunteers from ECYC’s member organisations all over Europe (e-mail, skype, telephone, project applications and documents, …).
• You organise new challenging projects (writing applications and reports, realisation of all kind of activities)
• You secure administrative funding (European Commission and the Council of Europe) and you apply for new funding (e.g. new projects, charity, …).
• You network and maintain contacts with all kind of international partners to promote ECYC, its member organisations, open youth work and non-formal learning.(e.g. European Commission, Council of Europe, Youth Forum, …).
• You support and facilitate the ECYC volunteers and trainers at conferences, training courses, seminars or workshops.
• You have experience in youth work and you’re highly motivated to promote it. You have experience of training.
• You like to travel across Europe and be in contact with different cultures. You have a practical understanding of inter-cultural learning.
• You would like to live in Antwerp, where ECYC’s secretariat is located.
• You are confident to express yourself in English (other languages can be an asset).
• You’re also good in writing project applications and have a nose for fundraising opportunities.
• You have experience in project management.
• You are good in communicating with people of all kind (young and old, informal and very formal), both written and verbal.
• You have a good understanding of European structures, institutions and policy levels, or you’re keen to learn it quickly.
• You have the capacity to achieve tight deadlines and work flexible hours, weekend and evenings.
Desirable but not compulsory:
• Your age is less than 35
• You’re associated with an ECYC member organisation
• The job conditions and contract are within the Belgian employment legislation, as it is done for all people employed by Formaat and other Belgian youth work organisations.
• The salary is according to the common scale (b1c) used in Belgian social-cultural work, starting at 1975,18 euro per month with 0 years of service experience (maximum 3455,50 euro when 27 years service). Relevant experience will be taken into account. Extra benefits: a bonus at the end of the year (equal to extra month salary) and flexibility compensation.
The job location and the contract of employment is with Formaat, ECYC’s member organisation in Belgium (De Wittestraat 2, 2600 Antwerp), where ECYC has its secretariat.
